There’s a little spot in downtown Omaha that feels like home the moment you walk through the door. If you’ve been to Kitchen Table, you know exactly what I mean. It’s more than a restaurant; it’s a gathering place where good food, community and hospitality come together in perfect harmony.
Since 2013, Colin and Jessica Duggan have owned and operated this Farnam Street restaurant. With their philosophy of “slow food fast,” they’ve created a space where you’re encouraged to pause, savor and enjoy food made the way it should be.
They specialize in a rotating seasonal menu, using fresh, farm-to-table ingredients. I was blown away by the meatloaf sandwich and seasoned popcorn (yes, you read that correctly).
If comfort food had a crown, the meatloaf sandwich would wear it proudly. Thick slices of perfectly seasoned, tender meatloaf are tucked between house-made bread. It’s the kind of meal that feels like a hug from your mom, but with a gourmet twist only Kitchen Table could deliver.
And then there’s the side that no one sees coming but everyone remembers — the seasoned popcorn. Forget fries or chips. This flavorful popcorn is the unsung hero of every plate. Light, crunchy and dusted with a seasoning blend that’s addictive, it’s the little detail that sums up what Kitchen Table does best: turning simple into spectacular.
The restaurant invites you to grab a seat, watch your food being crafted in the open kitchen and feel like part of something genuine.

For me, places like this remind us why food matters — not just for nourishment, but for connection, comfort, and those small moments of joy. Like biting into a meatloaf sandwich with seasoned popcorn on the side and realizing life’s simple pleasures are often the best.
Wonderful owners. Great spot. Thank you!!
